Introduction
Background:
Lawyers' National Campaign for Elimination of Caste Discrimination (LANCAU Nepal), a non profit, non-governmental organization established in 2002 by a team of professional lawyers fights for caste based untouchability and caste based discrimination to the protection of Human Rights of Dalits. Dalits' voices are unheard since ages. Untouchability still exists in our country because of the miss interpretation of various stakeholders and their messages spread long age through the state. Besides having a number of international and national legal frameworks against all forms of discrimination in Nepal including basic provisions of criminal law to protect Dalits from abuse by members of the uppercases, the untouchability-based discrimination practices still overcome indication the poor implementations practice has hindered the Dalits to access to land, education, politics and economic resources, and other areas.
Establishment:
LANCAU Nepal is established with the objective to eradicate caste based untouchability in the initiation of lawyers across the country.
